Caribou Coffee Leaps Into Franchising

First up will be Northern New Jersey market, where Caribou Coffee has signed its first are developer. With a domestic development agreement in place with a local area developer, consumers in the will soon be able to savor the Caribou Coffee experience. This agreement is an important step for Caribou in the advancement of our domestic franchise program.
Michael Coles, Caribou Coffee Chairman and CEO stated, “With a domestic development agreement in place with a local area developer, consumers in the Northern New Jersey market will soon be able to savor the Caribou Coffee experience. Coles was also pleased with the company’s financial results for second quarter 2007 (thirteen weeks ended July 1, 2007) which included a total net sales increase of 11% to $62.8 million compared to the second quarter of 2006, and the opening of 11 coffeehouses.
Caribou Coffee Company, Inc., founded in 1992 and headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is the second largest company-owned gourmet coffeehouse operator in the United States based on the number of coffeehouses. As of July 1, 2007, Caribou Coffee had 480 coffeehouses, including 39 licensed locations. Caribou Coffee’s coffeehouses are located in 18 states and the District of Columbia, as well as in several venues outside the United States.
